His brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra ji also live with him. Lord Jagannath is considered to be the form of Shri Krishna. A large number of devotees from India and abroad come to the Rath Yatra of Jagannath Ji. It is believed that by participating in the Rath Yatra and pulling the rope of the chariot, one gets freedom from the cycle of birth and death.

In the Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra ji proceed on three grand chariots. This year too, preparations for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath are being made in full swing. This year, Lord Rath Yatra will be taken out on 16th July. This festival will conclude on 24th July. Lord Jagannath, along with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, rides towards the Gundicha temple in 3 grand chariots, but do you know who is Goddess Gundicha, at whose place the Lord eats the dish.

Jagannath ji considers Goddess Gundicha as his aunt.

According to religious beliefs, Lord Jagannath considers Goddess Gundicha as his aunt. Gundicha Mata was the wife of King Indradyumna. It is said that King Indradyumna had built the temple of Lord Jagannath. Queen Gundicha was a devotee of Lord Jagannath. Gundicha temple is built in his name. It is just 03 kilometers away from Jagannath Temple. Lord Jagannath rests for 8 to 9 days in the Gundicha temple of his aunt’s house.

He gets a lot of respect here. It is believed that God eats various dishes at his aunt’s house and then falls ill. After treatment and rest they return back to Jagannath temple.

Had taken this promise from Lord Jagannath

According to Paranika beliefs, the idea of consecrating the life of Lord Jagannath was going on. Then Narad ji came and said that Brahma ji can tell about this very well, after which King Indradyumna along with Narad ji went to Brahmalok to take permission from Brahma ji. After the departure of the king, Queen Gundicha went to the cave and indulged in penance. Then, being pleased, Lord Jagannath appeared before him. Queen Gundicha took a promise from Lord Jagannath that he would come to meet her every year. It is believed that since then Lord Jagannath visits Mata Gundicha every year.
