All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and MP Asaduddin Owaisi reached Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday (July 18). During this, he fiercely targeted the Uttar Pradesh government on the issue of Johar University. He said that the government is targeting the education of Muslims.
Talking to the media, Owaisi said that this is not just a matter of a university, but a question related to the education and future of the Muslim society. He said that if the institute is harmed, it will directly impact the education of thousands of students. He said that Jauhar University is being demolished so that Muslims cannot study.
‘This is a matter related to the education of Muslims’
The MP said that the issue of Jauhar University is not just about an institution, but it is related to the education of Muslims. He said that Uttar Pradesh has about 19-20 percent Muslim population, but only 3.5 to 3.7 percent Muslims are graduates. He said that the literacy rate of the Muslim community in the state is also around 53-54 percent, while it is even lower among women.
‘Dismantling the university will affect the future of students’
He said that if the buildings of Johar University are demolished then the future of thousands of students will be affected. He said that if you want to destroy the university, it means that you do not want Muslims to get educated. He said that this is a direct attack on education.
‘Solution can be found as per rules’
Owaisi said that about 3,000 students are studying in Johar University. He said that if there is any kind of legal or administrative problem, it can be regularized and its solution can be found under the rules, but the education of the students should not be affected. He said that education is the strongest foundation for the progress of any society and it is the responsibility of governments to strengthen educational institutions and not to affect the future of students by entangling them in controversies.
What did Owaisi say on the role of MLAs?
On the question asked on the role of MLAs, Owaisi said that the objective of AIMIM is to create independent political leadership in the society. He said that the question is not just about numbers, but about how independent the public representatives are and whether they can openly raise the voice of their conscience. He said that merely increasing the numbers in the Assembly or Parliament is not enough, but the public representatives should also have the courage to express their views openly.
Mentioned Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar
During this, the AIMIM chief, while referring to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, said that he too was once asked a similar question regarding the role of public representatives. According to Owaisi, Baba Saheb had replied at that time that some people open their mouth only to take a dig, they speak only to fulfill the formality. He said that this comment of Baba Saheb is equally relevant even today. This applies to the political system even today. He said that public representatives should listen to the voice of their conscience and raise public issues.
Demand of Azad Adhikar Sena
Here, National President of Azad Adhikar Sena, Amitabh Thakur has sent a letter to DM Rampur and Vice Chairman of Rampur Development Authority. He has demanded to ensure equal law and fair action. He said that if there are irregularities in construction, then legal action should be taken, but the same standards should be applied equally in the entire state. He said that if illegal construction has been going on for years, the role of the responsible officers should also be investigated impartially.
Amitabh Thakur sought to ensure protection of interests of students, teachers and other innocent stakeholders in the event of demolition. He said that emphasis was laid on maintaining transparency and administrative impartiality in the entire operation. He has also sent a copy of the letter to the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary (Housing) and has demanded to implement a uniform, transparent and time bound enforcement policy in all similar construction cases in the state.
