A Palestinian woman and a girl were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza on Monday. According to Kuwait’s field hospital, where the injured were admitted, the attack took place on a tent sheltering a displaced family in the Muwasi area, located in the western part of Khan Younis. The hospital said that another girl was injured. The army said it targeted a terrorist, but did not provide any further details.
These deaths have occurred among Palestinians in the coastal region since the ceasefire agreement in October. The purpose of this agreement was to stop the war that has been going on for more than two years between Israel and the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas in Gaza. Although the fierce fighting has subsided, Israel continues to fire almost daily due to the unstable ceasefire.
More than 880 Palestinians killed
According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli forces have carried out repeated airstrikes and continued shelling of Palestinians near areas under military control, killing more than 880 Palestinians. The ministry, which is part of the Hamas-led government, is generally considered credible by UN agencies and independent experts.
Why was the ceasefire violated?
But it does not give detailed information on civilian and militant deaths. The militants have fired on troops, and Israel says its attacks are in response to ceasefire violations or threats to its troops. Four Israeli soldiers have been killed since the ceasefire.
