It is said that during pregnancy, light morning sunlight can be beneficial for both the mother and the child in the womb. Morning sunlight helps in producing Vitamin D in the body, which is necessary to keep bones, teeth and immune system healthy.

Getting enough Vitamin D can also support the bone development and overall growth of the baby in the womb. Apart from this, morning sunlight can help in keeping the body clock i.e. circadian rhythm balanced, which can improve the quality of sleep and also keep the mood good. However, it is considered better to take sunlight in balanced quantity and at the right time.

What is the right time and way to take morning sunlight during pregnancy?

Dr. Meenakshi Bansal said that sunlight should be taken during pregnancy only when the weather is normal. One should avoid exposure to sunlight during extreme heat or cold, as this can make the pregnant woman feel uncomfortable and increase the risk of problems like dehydration.

It is considered better to take light sunlight for about 15 to 20 minutes in the morning. Wear comfortable clothes while taking sunlight, drink enough water and if you feel intense sunlight, immediately come into the shade.

Which pregnant women should consult a doctor before taking sunlight?

If a woman’s pregnancy is high-risk or she has high blood pressure, any pregnancy-related medical problem or other health complications, then she should definitely consult a doctor before taking morning sunlight.

The doctor can tell the right time and duration of taking sunlight according to the health condition of the woman. If you feel dizziness, excessive weakness, nervousness or discomfort while being in the sun, you should immediately come out of the sun and contact a doctor.
