Karnataka Inspirational Story: In today’s era, where people spend lakhs of rupees on their children’s birthdays on parties and wasteful expenditure in expensive hotels, a unique example for the society has emerged from Haveri district of Karnataka. Here, the headmistress of a government Urdu primary school celebrated her 26-year-old son’s birthday in such a memorable and creative way that it is now being talked about in the entire state. By spending around Rs 2 lakh from his personal savings, he has brightened up the dilapidated and colorless government school. The walls of the school have been painted in such a way that they look like a modern train compartment. After this commendable step, children have now started coming to school happily.
This entire incident took place in Hansbhavi village under Hirekeru taluk of Haveri district. A total of more than 90 students from class 1st to class 7th study in the Government Urdu School located here. Umai Salma Kadur has been working as the Principal of this school for the last four years.
Due to lack of painting for a long time and lack of infrastructure, the school premises looked quite dirty and dull. Due to this lack of basic facilities, villagers were often forced to withdraw their children from government schools and send them to private schools and there was great dissatisfaction among the parents about this. To find a permanent solution to this serious problem, Principal Umai Salma held a special meeting with the officials of the School Development and Supervision Committee (SDMC).
Unique oath taken on son’s 26th birthday
During the meeting, the headmistress presented a proposal to the committee which won everyone’s heart. Umai Salma told the committee, ‘You people just bear the expenses of the school’s anniversary, I take the responsibility of painting the entire school from my own pocket in the memory of the birthday of my 26-year-old son Malik Rehan.’ Keeping his promise, he spent a huge amount of Rs 2,00,000 (Rs 2 lakh) from his personal savings without waiting for any government funds and transformed the entire school.
‘School’ or ‘train compartment’? Craze for studies increased among children
Following this creative thinking of the teacher, the walls of the school have been painted on a unique ‘train theme’ instead of traditional colours. The walls of the school have been given the exact shape of blue train coaches, in which windows and doors are also made.
As soon as they enter the school, children now feel as if they are traveling in a gleaming train compartment. Children are very thrilled and happy with this beautiful change, due to which their attendance in school has also increased significantly.
