US President Donald Trump has broken his silence on the firing incident outside the White House. Trump raised the question whether even the White House is no longer completely safe. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that he thanks the Secret Service and law and order agencies, who took action swiftly and professionally. He said that a gunman present near the White House opened fire, after which Secret Service agents retaliated and the attacker was killed.

Trump said that the attacker had a violent history and had an unusual obsession with America’s most important building, the White House. He also reminded that this incident happened just a month after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting. According to Trump, such continuous incidents show that a stronger security system is necessary for America’s national security.

This statement of Trump is also being linked to his new ballroom project. Actually, there is a plan to build a big ballroom in the White House at a cost of about 400 million dollars. But this project has recently suffered a big setback. According to the report, US Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth McDonough has stopped the government funding which was to be used on the security system of this project. He said that this funding cannot be included in the big government spending bill.
Why is the ballroom project stuck?
Trump has previously said that the ballroom will be constructed with money from private donors. But the Republican Party wanted government funding of $ 1 billion in the name of White House security. The security costs related to the ballroom were also included in this fund. Republicans wanted to add this funding to a larger $72 billion bill, the main part of which would be spent on immigration control and border security. Although the Democrats have called this plan a waste of taxpayers’ money, the Trump administration says that it is necessary for national security and modern facilities.
