After the death of senior US Republican senator Lindsey Graham, Iranian newspapers and government media have reacted sharply. Some newspapers have called this a warning to the leaders of America and Israel. At the same time, many conspiracies regarding Graham’s death are also spreading on social media.
Iran’s leading newspaper Hamshahri published a picture of US President Donald Trump on its front page. In the picture, Trump is shown sitting on his knees in front of Lindsey Graham’s picture. Along with him were pictures of US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and many big leaders of America and Israel. A big headline was written on it – Be prepared for sudden death.
Graham was described as a merchant of death.
Another Iranian newspaper, Vatan-e-Emrouz, prominently published Graham’s death in its July 13 edition. The newspaper described him as a merchant of death. The report said that Graham had long been one of the biggest supporters of tough American policies against Iran. The newspaper also wrote that his death was due to a sudden illness. A news presenter on Iran’s state TV also gave a controversial statement. He said, I congratulate the Iranian people on sending the anti-Iranian and warmonger American Senator Lindsey Graham to hell. After this statement, many speculations started on social media.
Demand for investigation into Graham’s death
Some Donald Trump supporters (MAGA) claimed that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) had previously threatened Graham. For this reason they have demanded an investigation into his death. Lindsey Graham was considered a supporter of America’s strict foreign policy. He always supported providing military assistance to Ukraine in the war against Russia. During the Gaza War, he openly stood with Israel and said several times that the current government of Iran should be removed from power.
Graham also came into controversy when he said that Israel could consider using nuclear weapons in Gaza if necessary. After the attacks on Iran by America and Israel on February 28, he openly demanded the overthrow of the Iranian government. He said that this will bring big changes in the entire Middle East and will bring economic benefits.
Graham went to Israel before the Iran war
Graham had visited Israel several times before the war started. There he met the intelligence agency Mossad and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to the Wall Street Journal report, he advised Netanyahu on how to prepare President Trump for military action against Iran. Graham claimed that intelligence received from Netanyahu convinced Trump to support the joint US-Israeli operation.
Graham also appealed to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to take military action against Iran. Later he also criticized Saudi Arabia because it did not take part in this conflict.
