Iran will collect environmental tax in Hormuz, not toll…making a deal with America by adopting a new trick

May 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Under the interim agreement, America has banned Iran from taking toll in Hormuz. That means Iran cannot take toll after signing the agreement. Meanwhile, Iran has played a new trick. Iran says that Tehran will not collect toll tax in Hormuz, but will definitely collect money in the name of environment and security services. This information was given by Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghei on Monday. According to Vaghei, Iran is being defamed through toll tax. This is a term given by the western media.

Waghei said that after the agreement Hormuz It will be opened completely, but we will definitely take money for the services we provide for the security of the ships. He further said that it is the responsibility of all of us to protect the environment.

Hormuz is the gateway to the Persian Gulf, from where ships enter the Gulf of Oman from the Persian Gulf. 20 percent of oil is supplied to the entire world from Hormuz. Countries like Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Iraq sell their oil and gas through this route.

Protocol will be issued on environmental tax

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that we will soon issue the protocol on Hormuz together with Oman. We will take money for the service we provide to the ships. Apart from this, environmental tax will also be collected. Our effort is to keep Hormuz clean. When the protocol is released in the future, the picture will become clear.

Iran had imposed toll in Hormuz

Before 28 February 2026, no toll had to be paid for ships passing through Hormuz, but after the war with America, Iran implemented toll system on this route. Under this, Rs 10 lakh each were taken from the ships in the name of security. However, no money was recovered from the Indian ships. Ships of Pakistan and China also passed through Hormuz for free.

Iran also announced the creation of a separate ministry to collect tolls in Hormuz. A social media account of this ministry has also been created. This ministry has been placed under IRGC. Hormuz is also being guarded by the soldiers of Islamic Revolutionary Guards.

Prohibition on collecting toll in the agreement

cnn According to, an interim nuclear deal has been agreed between Iran and America. Its official announcement can be made any time. The agreement states that Iran will completely open the Strait of Hormuz. No toll will be collected on this route. Apart from this, Iran has said not to make nuclear weapons.

On these conditions, Iran will be given exemption from economic sanctions. Iran will also be allowed to sell oil. Under the agreement, America will also return the seized money from Iran.
