Iran locks Hormuz again, IRGC says ships will be in danger if they come near

June 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Iran has once again closed the Strait of Hormuz. Also, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has warned ships not to come close to it. If any ship tries to come near Hormuz, action will be taken. At the same time, IRGC Navy has also given the reason for closing Hormuz. The IRGC has closed it down, citing Israel’s actions in Lebanon and non-fulfillment of ceasefire promises. He has held America responsible for this.

IRGC Navy says Israel is violating the agreement. Israel is continuously attacking Lebanon. Whereas America had said during the agreement that Israel would no longer attack Lebanon. Hormuz will remain closed until the attacks on Lebanon stop. At the same time, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai has told state media that a delegation negotiating with the US will soon go to Switzerland to demand that Israel fulfill its responsibilities and stop attacks on Lebanon.

If Israel does not agree, Iran will launch attacks

IRGC has called the move to close Hormuz as the first step of its response. The Iranian Army has warned that if Israel’s aggression continues, more steps can be taken. Iran has clearly indicated that in response to the attacks on Lebanon, it can also choose the option of direct attacks on Israel. In such a situation, speculations are being made that if Israel does not agree, Iran may once again start attacking them.

Agreement was reached on cessation of fighting on all fronts including Lebanon

Earlier on Wednesday, in the agreement (MoU) signed between Iran and America, it has been clearly stated that fighting on all fronts including Lebanon will stop. Despite this, the peace agreement seems to be in danger due to Israel’s continuous attacks in Lebanon. In such a situation, just three days after the announcement of opening the Strait of Hormuz, it has now been closed again. At the same time, America’s Vice President JD Vance has also said that he hopes to go to Switzerland for talks with Iran in a few days. After that all issues will be resolved.

Crisis deepens again due to closure of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important energy routes in the world. It helps in supplying oil and gas from Gulf countries to a large part of the world. India also gets a large amount of oil and gas through this sea route. Therefore, the new fear of blockage in the Strait of Hormuz may increase concerns about energy supply in India and the entire world.
