US President Donald Trump declared that Iran was “finished” and vowed that Tehran would not receive “one cent” from the United States. He claimed that the war had destroyed the country’s military capability and left it without an air force, navy or essential defense systems.
In several posts on Truth Social, Trump rejected criticism from political opponents and said the war had greatly diminished Iran’s military strength.
Trump Wrote, “The war has weakened Iran! It now has no air force, navy, anti-aircraft equipment, radar or really anything.”
US President targets Democrats
The US President also took aim at the Democrats, and mocked the idea that Iran may be in a stronger position than it was a few months ago.
Trump said, “Yet the Democrats say Iran is in a better situation now than it was four months ago. Can you imagine they will get away with this? How stupid can some people be?” Trump further said that after the fighting, Tehran, not Washington, had tried to negotiate. He wrote, “We did not meet in desperation, we met Iran. They are finished!” He indicated to adopt a tough stance if diplomatic efforts continued.
The President further said that the United States will stick to its current timeline and will not provide any financial relief to Tehran. Trump said, “We’ll play 60 days. They won’t get any money, not even ten cents!”
Tehran will not get any financial help
This comes amid ongoing debate over the impact of the war on Iran’s military capabilities and the future of talks between Washington and Tehran. Trump’s words also emphasize his administration’s position that pressuring Iran has yielded results, while critics are questioning whether this strategy can lead to a lasting agreement.
On Wednesday evening, Trump and Iranian President Massoud Pejeshkian electronically signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding. Its purpose is to end the war that started between America, Israel and Iran on February 28.
Under the memorandum, Washington and Tehran are expected to hold talks for 60 days, which may be extended, to reach a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and international sanctions. Under the terms of the deal, Iran will immediately reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz while the US will lift its naval blockade, claimed Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also signed the document as a mediator.
