The issue of Strait of Hormuz is not ending. US President Donald Trump has claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran fired at least four ‘one-way attack drones’ at ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. One of these drones hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive cargo ship. It caused damage, but the ship managed to continue its journey. He also claimed that we shot down three other drones. Obviously, this is a senseless violation of our ceasefire agreement.
Donald Trump’s statement came immediately after the International Maritime Organization, a United Nations agency, stopped efforts to rescue ships and sailors stranded in the strait. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, said that the evacuation plan would be temporarily paused to reconfirm that the necessary safety guarantees are still in place for the ships included in our evacuation list and for all ships in the area.
