The biggest heroes of this thrilling victory were Romario Shepherd and captain Kieron Pollard, who completely turned the match on the last balls of the last over.
Quinton de Kock played a brilliant innings
After losing the toss and coming to bat first, MI New York had a very slow and difficult start. New York’s batsmen completely collapsed in front of the sharp bowling of the Seattle Orcas bowlers. While wickets were falling continuously from one end, opener Quinton de Kock handled the innings by batting intelligently. He played an inning of 61 runs in 46 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes. But in the last 5 overs, the New York team lost 5 wickets in scoring only 23 runs, due to which the entire team could only score 132 at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Romario Shepherd’s lethal bowling
While chasing the easy target of 133 runs, Seattle Orcas team faltered in the power play itself and lost 2 wickets for 14 runs. After this, MI New York’s fast bowler Romario Shepherd, with his precise line-length and speed, did not give any chance to the Seattle batsmen to stay at the crease. Shepherd took 3 wickets for 16 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
Pollard turned the match by dismissing Stoinis
The last over of the match was very exciting, where Seattle Arkansas needed 14 runs to win. Dangerous all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was present at the crease, who was playing as Seattle’s last hope. New York’s legendary all-rounder Kieron Pollard took the responsibility of bowling. Stoinis took the breath of the New York fans by hitting a skyscraper six on the very first ball of Pollard. Now only 8 runs were needed from 5 balls.
But Marcus Stoinis was caught out while trying to play a big shot on the very next ball of Pollard. Due to which Seattle’s biggest hope returned to the pavilion. Then Pollard spent only 2 runs on the last 4 balls and helped the team win by 5 runs. Let us tell you, even though Kieron Pollard is playing as a player in MLC, he plays the role of a coach in IPL. He is the batting coach of this franchise team Mumbai Indians.
