May 24, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: A new star is shining in Indian cricket, whose name is Vaibhav Suryavanshi. IPL 2026 has been full of records for Rajasthan Royals’ stormy batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He has played more than one inning. However, in his last league match, he could not do anything special against Mumbai Indians and was out after scoring 4 runs in 6 balls. But during this short innings he also made a new world record. He has become the teenage player who has scored the most runs in a T20 tournament or series.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke the world record

Before this match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi needed only two runs to break this record. At the very beginning of the match, he achieved this feat by opening the account on the first ball and then taking the second run on the ball of Will Jacques. Earlier this record was in the name of Devdutt Padikkal, who had scored 580 runs in 12 matches for Karnataka in the 2019/20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Vaibhav has now come at the top of this list. He is the only teenage player who has crossed the mark of 580 runs in a T20 tournament or series.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored a total of 583 runs while playing 14 matches in IPL 2026. During this period, 3 half-centuries and one century were also seen from his bat. The special thing is that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored these runs at a strike rate of 232.27, which is the highest among the top-10 batsmen of this season. Along with this, he is also the highest run scorer for Rajasthan Royals in the current season.

Hit more than 100 fours and sixes

The special thing is that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored more than 500 runs this season with fours and sixes. This season, 50 fours and 53 sixes have been seen from his bat. That means he has scored 518 runs out of 583 by just hitting fours and sixes. Apart from him, no other player has been able to score so many runs from the boundary. He is also at second place in terms of hitting most sixes in one season of IPL. At the same time, Indians are at the forefront.
