The cost of making iPhone 18 Pro Max, the upgrade version of iPhone 17 Pro Max, can be quite high. It is expected that this handset can be launched along with iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra in Apple’s September event. Recently, a market research firm has analyzed the estimated cost of its parts, which shows that overall, the variant with the highest storage of 18 Pro Max may be costlier by about $ 300 (about Rs 28,600) compared to the previous model.
However, Apple may not pass on the full increased price to customers for all storage configurations. Instead, the company can set different prices for different storage tiers, especially for higher capacity variants, to maintain profit margins.
According to Counterpoint Research’s new bill of materials (BOM) estimates, iPhone The component cost of the iPhone 18 Pro Max could reach $900 (roughly Rs. 85,800) for the 1TB storage variant, while it was around $550 (roughly Rs. 52,400) for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The reason for the increase in price is the rising prices of memory components.
Expensive components can increase production cost
Another major reason for the increasing cost of production is the A20 Pro chipset, this processor is expected to be used in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Due to the advanced semiconductor packaging and fabrication process, this processor may be more expensive than the A19 Pro used in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The market analysis company also expects that there will be a slight increase in the cost of the camera. However, the price of display and many other parts may come down slightly, which may offset the increase elsewhere.
But even if Apple increases the average retail price of the iPhone 18 Pro Max by about $200 (about Rs 19,000), the research firm estimates that the gross margin from this handset may be slightly lower than that of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
