Inside story of ban on Ranveer Singh, FWICE sent notice 3 times, ‘Dhurandhar’ actor’s reply spoiled the matter!

May 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

There seems to be an eclipse in the happiness of Ranveer Singh, who is celebrating the success of ‘Dhurandhar 2’. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken a big step and issued a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Ranveer, who has been in the news for a long time for leaving ‘Don 3’. This is being considered a kind of ban. But the biggest question in this controversy is that how did the matter reach the point of ban? Actually, in the ‘Don 3’ controversy, notices were issued to Ranveer thrice by FWICE. After that comes Ranveer’s reply. He says that FWICE is not the appropriate forum to hear this case. Then what, things get worse. Let us understand this matter in detail.

Film producer and director Farhan Akhtar had filed a formal complaint with the Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) on April 11, 2026, after which the matter was handed over to FWICE for further action. A meeting of the concerned parties was called by FWICE to hear the case. During this, Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Ritesh Sidhwani told that so far around Rs 45 crores have been spent on the pre-production of the film.

Leaving the film suddenly is against professional ethics

Farhan-Riteish said that the sudden withdrawal of a lead actor from such a big project can cause huge financial loss to the makers and the entire planning of the film can be affected. Farhan Akhtar also said that keeping in mind the big scale and star cast of the film, he had blocked his entire professional schedule. According to him, suddenly walking out of a committed project is against the professional ethics and long-standing practice of the industry.

Three notices and Ranveer Singh’s reply

FWICE actors Ranveer Singh By sending notices several times, he was requested to appear in person and present his side. The first, second and third reminders were issued by the Federation on 22 April, 30 April and 13 May 2026 respectively. After that, a reply was sent from Ranveer Singh, in which it was said that FWICE is not the appropriate forum to hear this matter and this dispute is a legal matter related to the contract, which should be heard in the appropriate judicial forum.

FWICE expressed serious objection to this answer. Federation officials decided to issue a non-cooperation directive against the actor considering his attitude and the impact it had on the stakeholders associated with the project. However, FWICE also clarified that they are still ready for talks with Ranveer Singh, so that an amicable solution can be found in the interest of both the parties.

FWICE statement

The federation said in its statement that the entire film industry works like a family, where artists, technicians, producers, directors and people associated with various departments work with collective responsibility and mutual trust. According to FWICE, a big artist suddenly leaving the project at a crucial stage can pose a serious threat to the functioning and stability of the industry. FWICE has appealed to all producers, producer associations and industry organizations to unite and support the federation in eliminating such ‘unprofessional behaviour’.

What does Non-Cooperation Directive mean?

FWICE has not used the word ban directly, but ‘non-cooperation’ is being considered as a ban. Unless Ranveer comes forward and talks about this matter, no member associated with the federation can work with him. In such a situation, this is a kind of ban on Ranveer.
