Infosys Q1 Results: Profit increased, new CEO found, but the company gave such a signal that investors should be alert.

July 23, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The country’s second largest IT company Infosys has released the results of the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27 (FY27). In the April-June 2026 quarter, the company’s consolidated net profit increased by 12% year-on-year to Rs 7,769 crore. The company’s profit in the same quarter last year was Rs 6,921 crore. At the same time, the company’s operational income also increased by 14% to Rs 48,211 crore, which was Rs 42,279 crore in the same period last year.

However, despite strong quarterly results, the company has reduced the upper limit of its revenue growth guidance for the full financial year FY27. It is clear that the company still remains cautious regarding global economic uncertainties and demand for IT services.

Ashish Kumar Das will be the new CEO

Along with the quarterly results, the company also announced major changes in leadership. Infosys has appointed Ashish Kumar Das as CEO-Designate. He will take over the reins of the company from April 1, 2027, replacing current CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh. Till then Salil Parekh will remain in his post and complete the process of leadership change smoothly.

The company says that this change has been made as part of a long-term strategy to ensure a smooth transition in leadership.

Lowered growth forecast for FY27

Infosys has reduced the upper limit of its revenue growth guidance for the entire financial year 2026-27 from 3.5% to 3%. However, the lower limit has been retained. The company believes that the impact of economic slowdown in many major markets of the world and caution by customers in IT spending can be seen in the coming quarters as well.

Experts believe that the cut in guidance indicates that the recovery in the IT sector is not yet fully strengthened. In such a situation, companies are adopting a cautious approach towards new projects and big technical investments.

Investors will keep an eye

Infosys’ quarterly results were as strong as expected. Double digit growth in profits and income shows strong operating performance of the company. At the same time, with the appointment of the new CEO, the company has also made the direction of future leadership clear.

Now investors will keep an eye on how much global demand improves in the coming quarters and whether Infosys is able to perform within its revised growth estimates. Besides, new orders received in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud and Digital Transformation will also play an important role in determining the future growth rate of the company.
