Information about the martyrs of Operation Sindoor was not hidden… Defense Ministry responded to the opposition’s allegations

After the Pahalgam attack, 6 soldiers lost their lives in the Army’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. Whose names have been recorded on the National War Memorial. The opposition is attacking the government regarding this. The opposition has also released a video of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s speech in Parliament. The Defense Ministry has issued a statement saying that the Defense Minister’s speech has been shown in a wrong manner.

The Defense Ministry issued a press release saying that the claim that the supreme martyrdom of six brave soldiers during Operation Sindoor has only recently been recognized, or brought into the public domain, for the first time is completely false.

Controversy over martyrdom in Operation Sindoor

In fact, the Defense Ministry has clarified on the ongoing controversy regarding the six soldiers martyred in Operation Sindoor that the information about their sacrifice has not been made public for the first time recently. According to the ministry, in the official press briefing on May 11, 2025, the then DGMO had paid tribute to these brave soldiers.

Martyrs received bravery awards

The Defense Ministry said that gallantry awards were also given to the martyrs and the information about this was made public in August 2025. Tributes were also paid to these soldiers from time to time on the official social media platforms of the Indian Army.

Name registered on National War Memorial

The ministry said that there is a prescribed procedure for inscribing names on the National War Memorial and it has been followed completely. Terming the controversy arising on this issue as unfortunate, the Ministry has appealed to avoid spreading unconfirmed information.
