
The body of a missing 11-year-old girl was recovered from a pond in Baruipur area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. . Local people alleged that she was raped and then murdered and her body was packed in a sack and thrown in the pond. In this case, one of the accused, Indrajit Mandal, was beaten to death by an angry mob. On Saturday, the Chief Minister of the state, Subhendu Adhikari, came to meet the family of Indrajit Mandal.
CM Shubhendu Adhikari said that he will not call the murder of Indrajit Mandal as lynching. He said the mob killed him after confirming his identity. He said that the people who lost the elections could be behind this lynching. At the same time, the role of fundamentalist communal forces is also possible.
CM met Indrajit Mandal’s family
CM met the family of deceased Indrajit Mandal. During this, he handed over the job appointment letter and a check of Rs 25 lakh to his family. CM first went to the house of the deceased girl. Where he met his parents. After this, he came to meet the family members of Indrajit, who was beaten to death. The Chief Minister handed over the appointment letter for the post of civil volunteer to Mandal’s elder brother and a check of Rs 25 lakh as help to his parents.
‘Indrajit Mandal’s murder is not lynching’
During this, he said, ‘I will not call the murder of Indrajit Mandal as lynching, the mob committed the murder after confirming his identity.’ He expressed apprehension that the people who were rejected by the public in the elections could be behind this murder incident. Along with this, he said that hardline communal forces may also have a role in this.
CM assured help to the family
Meanwhile, Indrajit Mandal’s elder brother Bapi Mandal said that the Chief Minister has assured his family of all possible help. He told that the CM gave him the appointment letter and asked him to do the job. He told that this is a letter of appointment to the post of civilian volunteer in Baruipur police district.
Five people arrested so far
Earlier, CM Shubhendu Adhikari had said that Mandal was innocent and a case of murder would be registered against those involved in his lynching. So far five people have been arrested in this case. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari reached the house of the deceased girl and assured her father of all possible help.
Girl’s body was found in a sack
The body of the minor girl who went missing on July 4 was found stuffed in a sack in Surjyapur Haat area the next day. After this the local people protested. The protesters blocked the Baruipur-Jayanagar road, burnt tires and vandalized some police vehicles, demanding the arrest of the accused. Hours after the girl’s body was recovered on Sunday, angry locals thrashed a man to death on suspicion of being involved in her death.
The police had arrested four people in the case of rape and murder of the girl. Of these four accused, Prabhas Mandal was killed in a police encounter late on Tuesday night. According to the police, he was taken to the spot to connect the links of the incident, where he allegedly tried to snatch the gun of a police officer. The police have so far arrested more than 35 people for their involvement in the vandalism that took place after the girl’s body was found.
