
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Indonesia in the first phase of his three-nation tour and he has been awarded the highest honor there. After giving a warm welcome to PM Modi, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced that Indonesia has awarded PM Modi its highest honor, the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia Medal of Honor.
The ‘Bintang Adipurna’ Medal of Honor is the country’s highest honor from the Republic of Indonesia. This honor is given to those who have rendered exceptional service to the unity, continuity and prosperity of the Republic of Indonesia.

After being awarded the highest honour, PM Modi said, “This morning I was given Indonesia’s highest honor with great love and respect. This honor belongs to crores of Indians. It reflects the sentiments of the people of Indonesia and the historic, deep ties between our two countries. I heartily thank President Prabowo, the Indonesian government and its people for this honour.”

Earlier today, PM Modi was given a grand welcome on his arrival in Jakarta for bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. PM reached Indonesia yesterday on Monday in the first leg of his visit to 3 countries. The purpose of his visit is to further strengthen India’s Act East Policy, Ocean Vision as well as India’s commitment towards a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
Grand welcome for PM Modi at Istana Merdeka
After the warm welcome, PM Modi said on social media platform X, “Thank you for the warm welcome at Istana Merdeka (Presidential Palace of Indonesia)!” PM Modi met Subianto at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Jakarta. During this he also signed the guest book.
This visit of PM Modi is considered to give new impetus to the ever-strengthening friendly relations and strategic partnership between India and Indonesia. This visit of the PM is taking place after the state visit of President Prabowo Subianto to India as the chief guest of the Republic Day celebrations in January 2025 last year.
