Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the ‘Human Resource Mobility Forum’ in New Delhi on Tuesday. During this, he said that India is strengthening partnerships with countries around the world to promote safe, orderly and legal migration. He said that till now India has signed 28 Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreements with 26 countries, while negotiations are going on with many other countries.
During this, the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of safe, orderly and legal migration. He highlighted the need for global cooperation to combat illegal migration, human trafficking and fraudulent agents. He said that illegal migration and human trafficking undermine the credibility of legal migration systems. Fraudulent middlemen exploit migrant workers and put them at risk. He said that it is the collective responsibility of the countries to take action against such networks.
Strict action against illegal migration and fraudsters
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar’s statement comes at a time when illegal migration, human trafficking and movement of skilled workforce have become major policy issues globally. While India is increasing opportunities for its youth for legal employment and skill-based roles abroad, it is also advocating strict action against illegal migration and fraudulent agents.
