India’s first medal confirmed in Commonwealth Games 2026, know how?

Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 India’s first medal has been confirmed even before the opening ceremony. India’s star female boxer and Olympic medalist, Lovlina Borgohain has ensured this medal. After getting a bye in her weight category, Lovlina Borgohain has got direct entry into the semi-finals of CWG 2026. With his reaching the semi-finals, India’s bronze medal is currently confirmed. Meaning, even before entering the boxing ring, arrangements have been made for him to stand on the podium.

Lovlina’s medal confirmed, semi-finals on 31st July

Lovlina Borgohain will play her semi-final match in the Commonwealth Games 2026 on July 31, by winning which she would like to move forward for the gold medal match. The news of Lovlina’s medal being confirmed is going to boost the enthusiasm of other Indian athletes. The Indian contingent is going to start its campaign in the Commonwealth Games 2026 with the Lawn Bowls event on July 24. Lawn bowls events will take place before the opening ceremony.

India’s medals may reduce due to absence of these games

This time, in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026, those 6 sports including hockey, badminton, wrestling, cricket, in which India had won 31 medals last time, have not got a place. This time only 10 sports are being organized in the Commonwealth Games, due to which India’s medal tally may be affected.

The power of Indian players will be visible in these games

The Indian contingent is participating in 8 out of 10 sports in Glasgow CWG 2026, which are athletics, boxing, weightlifting, judo, artistic gymnastics, track cycling, lawn bowls and swimming. Athletics will be organized between July 27 and August 1, where the eyes of the world will be on Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj won the gold medal in the 2018 Gold Coast CWG. Due to injury, he was not seen in the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham in 2022.
