
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Saturday that today India is moving rapidly towards becoming the third largest economy in the world. Puri visited Sonbhadra as part of the 12 Years of Heritage, Development, Public Welfare campaign being run on the occasion of completion of 12 years of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that Sonbhadra has secured the first position in the Delta ranking of the Government of India. He said that considering the current pace of development, this district can soon come out of the identity of backwardness and become a model district.
Work has been done on development and infra
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has made major achievements in the last 12 years in areas like development, infrastructure, energy, social security, poor welfare and self-reliance. Puri said that India is moving rapidly towards becoming the third largest economy in the world and the determination of developed India is taking the country to new heights.
He said that the aim of the government is to ensure development by taking everyone along by extending the benefits of the schemes to the last person of the society. Puri said that there has been no real increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country. He claimed that by cutting the excise duty, the central government did not allow additional burden on the common people.
India has an economy of Rs 4 trillion
The Union Minister said that at present the companies have stock of crude oil purchased at expensive prices. There is a possibility of a decline in prices after the arrival of new supply of low priced crude oil. He said that when PM Modi took power in 2014, India’s economy was at 11th place in the world. Now the country has become a 4 trillion dollar economy. The per capita income of Sonbhadra was Rs 43,000 in 2018, which has now increased to Rs 1.20 lakh. The minister admitted that there are some challenges in Jal Jeevan Mission in many parts of the country including Sonbhadra, but continuous work is being done on them.
