
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Melbourne, Australia as part of his foreign visit to three countries. Here he addressed the CEOs Forum. PM Modi described India as a major investment center for Australia. He said that India is creating a manufacturing ecosystem for hydropower, green hydrogen, solar modules and wind turbines. Also, India aims to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
The Prime Minister also mentioned India’s goal of achieving 100 GW nuclear power capacity by 2047. He said Australia’s huge uranium reserves and expertise can help meet India’s nuclear energy ambitions.

Invited for long term investment
PM Modi also invited long-term investment from Australia in India’s ports, airports, roads, railways and urban infrastructure sectors. He said that the economies of India and Australia complement each other and India’s scale and Australia’s expertise will prove to be a win-win partnership for both the countries.
The PM said that Australia’s technology, capital and resources can play an important role in accelerating the pace of India’s development. PM Modi described manufacturing, clean energy, critical minerals, mining, infrastructure, urban development, aviation, logistics, advanced technology, AI, fintech, food processing and digital economy as major areas of cooperation.

Appeal to complete CECA agreement soon
PM Modi addressed more than 200 big business leaders of Australia. He said that democracy, common thinking on Indo-Pacific and strong people-to-people ties have led to the economic partnership of the two countries. PM Modi mentioned the trade agreement of 2022. He appealed to complete the CECA agreement soon.
He asked for joint investment in rare earths, lithium, batteries, EV, AI and defense sectors. PM Modi also suggested direct partnership between the states of India and the provinces of Australia.
