Diplomatic relations between India and Colombia in 1959
India and Colombia have enjoyed friendly and cordial relations for decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1959. Colombia opened its embassy in New Delhi in 1972, after which India established its embassy in Colombia in 1973. Both sides have conducted high-level visits to many multilateral fora.
India and Colombia share strong partnerships in trade, investment, culture, education, information technology, defense and energy sectors. Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $4.31 billion in 2023-24. Colombia is one of India’s major partners in Latin America, while India is one of Colombia’s important trading partners in Asia.
