He clarified that the Trump administration’s trade policy is not designed to target any one country, but rather its aim is to rebalance America’s global trade structure. Rubio said, “The President never suggested creating conflict with India. He simply said that the current trade arrangement is unbalanced for the American economy and needs reform.”
India one of the largest economies in the world: Rubio
According to Rubio, the US faces a trade imbalance problem with many countries around the world, including allies like the European Union. However, he said that India’s case is different, as India is one of the largest economies in the world and is also a major trading partner of the US. He said that “India is a huge economy, and the US trades with it on a very large scale; as a result, the process of rebalancing this trading relationship becomes extremely important.”
US trade delegation to visit India
The US Secretary of State also announced that a US trade delegation will soon visit India to take forward the proposed trade agreement. He expressed hope that the two countries will reach an agreement that will be beneficial not only for America but also for its trading partners.

During the conversation, Rubio said that the pace of India-US relations has not slowed down. He said, “India-US relations will become even stronger in the coming years. Both countries are strategically aligned on almost all major global issues.”
India supports uninterrupted maritime trade
At the same time, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said that India supports maritime trade without any hindrance. He said that the two leaders also discussed the situation in West Asia, the Indian subcontinent and East Asia. Jaishankar said, “We discussed many important regional and global issues, including the ongoing conflict in West Asia. India supports free and unhindered maritime trade.”

He also said that cooperation between India and America in the energy sector is continuously increasing. Both sides also had constructive discussions regarding civil nuclear cooperation.
