India strongly objected to the headline of New York Times, said- Say PoK, not Pakistani Kashmir.

India has expressed strong objection to a headline of the American newspaper The New York Times. The Indian Embassy in America said on social media platform X that the term Pakistani Kashmir used by the newspaper is misleading and factually incorrect. The Indian Embassy said that there is no area like Pakistani Kashmir, rather it is a part of India which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan.

The embassy reiterated in its statement that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will always be an integral and inseparable part of India. Also said that Pakistan has illegally occupied some parts of these areas and is using violence against the people there. In fact, The New York Times had written Clashes Erupt in Pakistani Kashmir as Voting in Local Election Begins in the headline of its report on local elections, to which India publicly objected.

Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India

The embassy’s response reiterated India’s long-standing position that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral part of the country. The embassy said, “The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been, are and will always be an integral and inseparable part of India.” He accused Pakistan of illegally occupying parts of the area and said that violence and administrative policies have affected the people living in those areas.

This controversy started when a report in ‘The New York Times’ mentioned the protests and clashes taking place in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). This protest, being led by the Joint Awami Action Committee, is being linked to public anger over economic issues, rising inflation and allegations of political interference.
