India has once again extended its helping hand to Nepal to recover from the earthquake devastation. India will provide financial assistance to build 14 schools in earthquake affected areas of Nepal. India has announced grant assistance of 560.2 million Nepali rupees (about Rs 35.1 crore). This assistance given by India is a part of the efforts to take Nepal towards development. The scene of earthquake devastation in Nepal was seen in 2015. The devastating earthquake that occurred at this time destroyed everything.
Its devastation can be gauged from the fact that more than a decade later, the country continues to rebuild public infrastructure to repair the broken system. About 9,000 people lost their lives in this earthquake that occurred in 2015.
14 schools will be built in 8 districts
India continues its cooperation in post-earthquake reconstruction of Nepal. It has been signed by the ‘Central Level Project Implementation Unit-Education’ under the Ministry of Education and Sports of Nepal, under the reconstruction program funded by the Government of India. These new schools will be constructed in eight districts. These are the areas which were most affected by the devastating earthquakes in recent years.
These are eight districts, which include Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchok, Ramechhap and Sindhupalchok. According to the statement, these new schools will be constructed as per the rules related to earthquake-resistant infrastructure of Nepal Government. These will include academic blocks, fully equipped classrooms and separate toilet facilities for boys and girls. In January 2024, India completed and handed over 70 schools in eight districts under its post-earthquake reconstruction grant programme. Along with this, India also completed and handed over the Tribhuvan University Central Library of Kathmandu.
