
After the massive earthquake in Venezuela, India has sent a special medical team of the Indian Army for relief and rescue operations. This humanitarian mission has been named Operation Amistad. The medical team of 60 Para Field Hospital of the Indian Army left for Venezuela on Thursday itself from Hindon Air Base in 2 Air Force aircraft. This team will provide treatment and necessary medical assistance to the earthquake affected people.
There are 41 people in the special medical team, including 9 doctors. The team has been prepared to provide emergency treatment, trauma care, surgery and other essential health services. The medical team has also taken with itself about 6 tonnes of medicines, medical equipment and relief material, which has been provided by the Ministry of External Affairs.
2 indigenous Bhishma cubes were also sent
Under the mission, 2 indigenous BHISHM Cubes of India have also been sent to Venezuela. It is a modern mobile hospital, which can be rapidly deployed in times of disaster. Bhishma Cube can be converted into a field hospital in no time.

Bhishma Cube has the capacity to treat about 200 patients. It has ventilators, monitors, surgical equipment, oxygen and other necessary medical facilities.
Ready to help in difficult times: Jaishankar
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar posted on social media X and said, Operation Amistad is going on. “Indian Air Force Media Coordination Center today left 2 C-17 aircraft for Venezuela, carrying essential relief materials to help in post-earthquake relief efforts.”

He further said, “This assistance includes a field hospital unit of the Indian Army and over 35 tonnes of relief material, medicines and medical equipment, including 2 ‘Bhishma Cubes’. India is committed to helping the Government and people of Venezuela in these difficult times.”
