
India tour of Sri Lanka 2026: Team India has to leave for Sri Lanka tour on 4th August. Before that, a big update has come on the injuries of Jasprit Bumrah and Shubman Gill. The news is that both the players are on the path of recovery and are gradually regaining their fitness. The big thing is that both of them are likely to be completely fit before the start of the Test series against Sri Lanka. Apart from Gill and Bumrah, there was also an update on the fitness of Sai Sudarshan. According to TOI report, he will start batting from next week.
Bumrah will be fit before the test series
Jasprit Bumrah was injured during the ODI series against England, due to which his knee became swollen. Bumrah suffered this injury during the last ODI played at Lord’s on the England tour. However, now the BCCI medical team believes that he will be completely fit by the India-Sri Lanka first Test to be held in Galle from August 15. Bumrah was also selected in Team India for the Sri Lanka tour on the basis of fitness.
According to TOI report, Bumrah will gradually start increasing his workload in bowling. Presently he is in Center of Excellence Bengaluru. Bumrah will start bowling practice from this week and will gradually increase it.
BCCI is taking help of specialist doctor regarding Gill
According to the report, the help of a specialist doctor from outside the BCCI medical team is also being sought for Shubman Gill, who is suffering from neck pain. Gill has been continuously troubled by this problem. For the first time, he had to face this problem during a couple of Tests played against South Africa in Kolkata. He has also missed some IPL matches due to neck pain.
Why is it important for Bumrah and Gill to remain fit?
India’s tour of Sri Lanka is important from the point of view of WTC. In such a situation, both Gill and Bumrah become two important members of the Indian team. BCCI does not want Team India to get into any trouble regarding these. This is the reason why BCCI’s medical team is continuously monitoring Bumrah.
