Lakhs of fans who were expecting Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s debut in Team India were disappointed in the first 3 matches of the tour of Ireland and England. Team India did not give a chance to the 15-year-old young opener in even one of the three matches. Team India does not want to be in any hurry to field him but now it seems that now the team management will have to give a chance to Vaibhav because Sanju Samson has given him this opportunity. Sanju Samson failed miserably in the third consecutive match on the Ireland-England tour and was out after scoring only 1 run.
Samson’s hat-trick of flop shows
Sanju Samson could not make any impact in both the matches on the Ireland tour. In the first match, he was out for only 5 runs, whereas in the second match, he could not even open his account. In the first match, he returned to the pavilion on the first ball of the second over, whereas in the second match, he was out on the first ball of the innings itself. His similar condition continued in England too and he was out after scoring only 1 run in the second over of the Chester-le-Street T20.
Just a few months ago, Sanju Samson made Team India the champion by scoring more than 300 runs in the T20 World Cup. Then he also received the Player of the Tournament award. After this, Sanju scored a lot of runs in IPL also. But now as soon as he returned to international cricket, he scored a hat-trick of flop shows. The surprising thing is that Sanju’s poor performance continues outside India.
The situation is so bad outside India
Samson was in excellent form in the World Cup and IPL but all these matches were played in India only. His story in 10 consecutive innings outside India is not very good. In the last 10 innings played outside India in T20 International, Sanju has scored 2 centuries but during this period he has been out on ‘duck’ (zero) 5 times, while his scores in 3 innings have been 2, 5 and 1 runs.
Now will Suryavanshi have to be given a chance?
This performance of Sanju Samson has now put his place in the playing-11 under question. Captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Gautam Gambhir continuously said that they want to give full support to those who performed well in the World Cup. But considering the flop show of 3 innings and the series of poor performances abroad, now Samson’s place in the next match is under threat.
In such a situation, the pressure on the team management is sure to increase more than before that Vaibhav Suryavanshi should be given a chance in the second T20 match. The next match of the series is in Manchester on 4th July and it should not be a surprise if Vaibhav Suryavanshi is seen making his T20 debut in place of Sanju in that match.
