IND vs ENG: Not just batting, bowlers also sank Team India’s boat, this is the big reason for defeat in England

July 10, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Team India Bowlers vs England: The performance of the Indian team in the ongoing five-match T20 series against England has been quite disappointing. The first four matches of the series have been played, out of which the first match was washed out due to rain and India had to face a crushing defeat in the remaining three matches. In this way, Team India is trailing 3-0 in the series and is yearning for its first win. Often the poor batting of the Indian top order is being blamed for this defeat, but the truth is that the performance of the Indian bowlers has also been a complete flop in this series. Undisciplined bowling, expensive economy and weakness in not taking wickets have doubled the problems of Team India.

England’s discipline vs India’s negligence

In fast-paced cricket like T20, every extra ball and free-hit can change the course of the match. There has been a huge difference in discipline between the two teams in this series. While on one hand the England bowlers have bowled with a very precise line-length and have not bowled a single no ball in the entire series, on the other hand the Indian bowlers have looked completely directionless. The Indian team has bowled 5 no balls so far in this series, which gave the English batsmen free opportunities to score runs.

Only one Indian in top-5 among highest wicket takers

If we look at the list of bowlers who took the most wickets in the series, the dominance of the English bowlers is clearly visible there too. Four players from England are included in the top-5 bowlers, while only one bowler from India has been able to make his place. This difference has also made a big difference in the series. Apart from Arshdeep Singh, no other Indian bowler has been able to make it to the top five.

  • Joffra Archer (England): 6 wickets in 3 matches
  • Josh Tongue (England): 6 wickets in 3 matches
  • Sam Curran (England): 4 wickets in 4 matches
  • Adil Rashid (England): 4 wickets in 4 matches
  • Arshdeep Singh (India): 4 wickets in 4 matches

Indian bowlers lag behind in economy rate also

Indian bowlers have lagged far behind in terms of stopping runs and keeping the batsmen tied. If Prince Yadav (8.28 economy) is left out, the economy rate of India’s important bowlers has been quite shameful. Arshdeep Singh is giving away runs at an expensive economy of 9.88. At the same time, Harshit Rana (10.00) and Chakraborty Varun (10.28) are giving runs at a rate of 10 or more per over. Akshar Patel has also proved to be very expensive with an economy of 9.30.

On the other hand, England bowlers like Will Jaques (7.08), Sam Curran (7.45) and Joffra Archer (8.09) have been quite economical. This difference has emerged as the biggest reason for the continuous defeat of the Indian team. In such a situation, if India has to save its face in the last match, then the bowlers will have to immediately improve their directionless bowling.
