Team India got swept in the T20 series against England. The last match was a battle of honor for the Indian team, which had already lost the series, but it lost this battle too. In the fifth and last match played in Southampton, England defeated India by a huge margin of 56 runs. With this, the team captained by Harry Brook made a clean sweep of 4-0. The first match of the series was canceled due to rain. Not only this, England also snatched the number-1 rank from Team India in the T20I rankings.
This match played in Southampton proved to be bad for Team India even before it started. The Indian team bus could not reach the stadium on time due to being stuck in the traffic of Southampton. Due to this, the toss was delayed by 45 minutes, while the match also started half an hour later i.e. at 7.30. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer, who has been winning the toss continuously throughout this tour, won the coin toss here too and decided to bowl first. But after this nothing was good for Team India.
After losing the first wicket in the second over itself, England did not give any chance to the Indian team until its score became winnable. Captain Harry Brook, who was in excellent form, once again defeated the Indian bowlers. But the star of this innings was veteran opener Jos Buttler, who had failed in the series till now. Butler scored a stunning century in just 51 balls and made a world record partnership of 233 runs with Brook.
Butler scored 131 runs in 64 balls, while Brook could not complete his century but returned unbeaten after scoring 95 runs in 45 balls. England scored 257 runs after losing only 3 wickets, which is the record for the highest score against Team India. Indian fielding also contributed in this, who dropped 3 catches. In this, Shivam Dubey made the biggest mistake by leaving the catch of Brook at the score of 3 runs.
