After the tremendous action of IPL 2026 that lasted for almost two months, the Indian cricket team has now returned for the international mission. The test match between India and Afghanistan is going to start from Saturday 6th June. This test match is being played between the two countries after 8 years and the fans hope that they will not have to wait so long for the next test between the two. But not just the Test match, June 6 is the day of big changes and a new era in Indian cricket because from a new captain to some new faces are going to be entered in the Indian T20 team.

The only test match between India and Afghanistan will start at 9.30 am on this ground. This match is also special because with this this stadium will become the 31st venue to host Test cricket in India.

At the time when the India-Afghanistan teams will be clashing, the Men’s Selection Committee meeting will be going on at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, after which a big announcement will be made around 1 pm. The Indian T20 team is going to get a new captain and it will be announced in this press conference. After several days of rumors, star batsman Shreyas Iyer will be formally announced as the captain of the T20 team and thus a new era will begin.
Team India will be announced for the tour of Ireland and England in this conference itself, in which T20 and ODI squads will be selected. The T20 squad is most important in this because it is expected that 15 year old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi can be selected for Team India for the first time. If this happens then it will be a history in itself.
Not only this, there is also a possibility of the squad being announced for the Asian Games 2026 to be held in Japan in September and Vaibhav Suryavanshi is certain to be selected in it. But there is curiosity about who will captain the Indian team in these games.
