Team India’s tour of England continues, where the T20 series is being played. With this series, an unofficial Test series in Sri Lanka ended, in which the India A team was participating. Team India did not win in England but India A definitely achieved success in Sri Lanka. In the second unofficial test match against Sri Lanka A, India A won by 10 wickets. The star of this victory was fast bowler Gurnoor Brar, who had recently made his ODI debut and has now staked claim for his Test debut by taking 10 wickets in this match.
On the fourth day of the second match of this series played in Galle, Sri Lanka, India-A bowled out Sri Lanka-A for just 209 runs in the second innings. Due to this, India-A got the target of only 33 runs to win, which India-A achieved without losing any wicket. In this way, India-A won the 2-match series 1-0 and ended the Sri Lanka tour with success. India A had already won the ODI Tri-Nation Series on this tour.
Talking about this match, while in the last match Sri Lanka A had made a comeback and made the match a draw, this time it did not happen. A major reason for this was Gurnoor Brar, who was not a part of the last match. Brar, who took 4 wickets in the first innings of this match, showed the way to the pavilion to 6 batsmen of Sri Lanka-A in the second innings. The special thing is that 4 out of his 6 wickets were of top and middle order batsmen, which included Ashen Bandara who scored the highest run of 87 runs.
Overall, this tall fast bowler took 10 wickets in the match. This is the first time in Brar’s career of 19 first class matches, when he took 10 wickets in a match. And only for the second time in his career he took 5 or more dismissals in an innings. India-A got the target of only 33 runs, which was achieved without losing any wicket due to opener Sai Sudarshan’s quick 25 runs. India-A had scored 543 runs in the first innings, while Sri Lanka A had scored 366 runs in the first innings.
