In recent times, many such cases have come to light across the country in which a person has lost his life due to an extra affair. We are talking about this because if there is anything being discussed everywhere these days, it is the Ketan Aggarwal murder case of Pune. On June 18, Ketan died after falling from Lohagarh Fort. Initially, this matter came to the public as an accident, but gradually when its layers started being revealed, it was revealed that this accident was not a well thought out conspiracy, which was hatched by none other than Ketan’s fiancee Siya Goyal and her lover Chetan Choudhary. However, since this case came to light, many old such cases have come to light, which have been done on the same pattern.
First Ketan Aggarwal knows the case completely. Actually, Ketan was a famous businessman of Pune, whose engagement with Siya Goyal took place in February this year. Both were going to get married with great pomp in November and preparations were also in full swing. But, while on one hand Ketan was making efforts for Sia, on the other hand Sia along with Chetan was plotting to remove Ketan from the path forever. Actually, Sia had made three different plans to kill Ketan. After coming under suspicion, when Sia and Chetan were detained by the police, it was revealed that Sia had planned to remove Ketan from the way to maintain the respect of her family in the society.
Ketan’s sister was suspicious of Sia
Ketan’s sister was the first to suspect Siya. When Sia came to meet Ketan’s family four days after his funeral, Ketan’s sister became suspicious of some of Sia’s answers. After which he informed the police about this and the whole case turned in the other direction. Police started investigating Sia’s call details. During this time he came to know about the relationship between Siya and Chetan. Police investigation also found CCTV footage of Lohagarh Fort, in which Chetan can also be seen. Earlier also Siya had tried to kill Ketan, but that attempt had failed. It was Sia’s birthday on 19th June, insisting on its pre-celebration, she took Chetan to the fort, where she carried out the incident.
What does the research say?
According to research, between 2022 and 2025, about 270 to 300 husbands were murdered in India every year. That means, on an average, a case of murder of a husband was reported every 32 hours. However, these figures are not from any government agency. These have been prepared on the basis of news published in the media, court records and study of some popular cases. Therefore these numbers cannot be considered completely official or the final truth. Research says that separate government data of such cases is not available, hence the actual number may be more or less than this.

Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case
Whenever the case of extra love affair comes up, there are some old cases which automatically start playing in front of people like flashbacks. But, the question arises that which accused have been punished so far in all those cases. Talking about the first case, the Ketan murder case is directly connected to the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. Raja Raghuvanshi murder case became a topic of discussion across the country in June 2025. Raja Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore, had gone to Meghalaya with his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi for honeymoon. There the king’s body was found in a deep ditch. The investigation alleged that wife Sonam, along with her alleged lover and his associates, had conspired to murder Raja.

In the year 2025 itself, the Neela Drum case of Meerut had shocked the entire country. In this case, the accused of murder of Saurabh Rajput was placed on his wife Muskaan and her lover Sahil Shukla. According to the police, after Saurabh was murdered, the body was cut into pieces and put in a big blue plastic drum and filled with cement to hide the evidence. The family had no clue about the incident for several days. In the investigation, love affair and marital dispute were considered to be the main reasons for the murder.
Raees Sheikh murder case
In this sensational case that came to light in Dahisar area of Mumbai, Shahida Sheikh along with her lover Aniket alias Amit Mishra was accused of murdering her husband Raees Sheikh. According to the police, both of them wanted to live with each other and Raees had come to know about this, one day Raees suddenly came to the house and saw Shahida and Amit in an objectionable condition, after which both of them together murdered her. It is alleged that Raees was strangled to death in May 2021 and the body was packed in a sack and buried under the kitchen floor of the house. Later Shahida lodged a complaint about her husband’s disappearance. This entire incident was seen by Shahida and Raeed’s 6 year old daughter, who revealed the matter after some time.

Madhya Pradesh (Dhar) Murder Case
In this sensational case that came to light in April 2026 in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, his wife Priyanka and her lover Kamlesh were accused of murder of spice trader Devkrishna Purohit. According to the police, Priyanka did not want to live with her husband and wanted to start a new life with her lover. It is alleged that both of them got Devkrishna murdered by giving a betel nut worth around Rs 1 lakh to a person. After the incident, Priyanka fabricated a false story of robbery by pretending to be a hostage and tried to mislead the police by crying. But during investigation, the conspiracy was revealed and both were arrested.
Mahalakshmi Murder Case
The murder of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi in Bengaluru had shocked the entire country. In September 2024, his body was recovered from the fridge of his flat, which the accused had cut into about 59 pieces and hidden. In the investigation, the main accused turned out to be Mahalakshmi’s colleague and lover Mukti Ranjan Roy. According to the police, there was a dispute going on between the two regarding marriage and personal relations. The accused absconded after the incident, but later committed suicide in Odisha. The suicide note found from him claimed to have confessed to the murder. Mahalakshmi was married and had a child, but lived separately.
In which cases has punishment been given?
However, if we talk about the punishment of the accused in all these cases, Sonam has got bail in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case after spending 11 months in jail. Muskaan and her lover Sahil have been arrested in the Neele Drum murder case, but the case is still going on in the court. Even in this case, no punishment has been announced yet. In the Dahisar case of Mumbai, both the accused are still in jail, whereas in the Mahalaxmi case, the accused himself committed suicide. If we talk about Dhar’s murder case, the final decision of the court and punishment in this case has not been announced yet because the police investigation (under trial) is going on.
