The death of a 12-year-old girl under suspicious circumstances in Baruipur of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal has created a stir in the area. It is being told that the girl had left home on Saturday evening to buy food items from a nearby shop but did not return. The family searched for him a lot, but no trace of him was found. There was a sensation in the area when his dead body was found in a pond in Suryapur Haat area on Sunday morning. Local people claim that four youths kidnapped the girl and murdered her after gangrape. After the incident, angry people protested by placing the dead body on the road and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Police arrested an accused

On receiving the information, Baruipur police reached the spot. Local people caught a suspect, Prabhas Mandal, and handed him over to the police. The police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him. Meanwhile, continuous raids are being conducted to trace the remaining accused. Police say that the body has been sent for post-mortem. The exact cause of death and the truth of the rape allegations will be known only after the postmortem report and forensic investigation.
