There have been many such serials in the world of TV, on which the makers have spent a lot of money. But the money invested in them has always recovered its amount. Among such serials, Siddharth Kumar Tiwari's show 'Mahabharat' and Ekta Kapoor's 'Jodha Akbar' come in the top 5. These shows have always been at the top in terms of TRP. But the makers have to spend a lot of money in making these shows.
In the list of most expensive shows, the name of Mahabharata which came in 2013 is taken first. To make this, the makers had left behind the standards of the TV industry. Rs 100 crores were spent in making Mahabharata. At the same time, Jodha Akbar is also considered to be one of the most expensive shows, which cost around Rs 50 crore to make.
The total budget of the show 'Mahabharat' telecast on Star Plus was approximately between Rs 100 crore to Rs 120 crore. This lavish budget made it the most expensive show on Indian television of its time. It was shot in places like Kashmir, Jaisalmer and Jaipur and very expensive and designer costumes were used.
Hollywood level special effects were used in the Mahabharata show, whose team alone included more than 200 people. Famous art director Omung Kumar had created magnificent sets on 10 acres of land in Umargam, Gujarat.
The total budget of the historical serial 'Jodha Akbar' telecast on Zee TV in 2013 was around Rs 50 to 60 crores. The making cost of each episode was around Rs 9 lakh.
Jodhaa Akbar was also one of the most expensive TV shows of its time. In this, Rajat Tokas played the role of Akbar and Paridhi Sharma played the role of Jodha. Despite the huge budget, the show remained a superhit and remained on top in TRP (BARC rating) for a long time.
