'I will be back' was released on 12 June 2026. According to reports, the budget of the film is said to be around Rs 70 crore. At the same time, till now this film has earned more than Rs 70 crore worldwide. Before this, Imtiaz Ali's last release was 'Amar Singh Chamkila', which came directly on OTT in 2024. But his previous theatrical release was 'Love Aaj Kal', which reached theaters in 2020. 'Love Aaj Kal', directed by Imtiaz Ali, was released on 14 February 2020. Kartik Aryan, Sara Ali Khan, Randeep Hooda and Aarushi Sharma were in lead roles in the film. People had high expectations from this romantic drama of Imtiaz Ali, but after its release the film could not live up to the expectations. According to reports, Love Aaj Kal was made with a budget of Rs 60 crore, which did a worldwide business of around Rs 56 crore and proved to be a flop at the box office. The story and screenplay of the film received mixed reactions from the audience and critics. But due to the story and weak emotional connect, this film failed to attract people to the theatres. Now Imtiaz Ali once again returned to the theater through 'I will be back'. Although the film's earnings were slow in the initial days, its collection continued to increase due to positive word of mouth. In such a situation, it is believed that Imtiaz Ali, who returned to the big screen after six years, seems to be successful in winning the trust of the people again.
