Imtiaz had told why he felt that Deepika Padukone was the most perfect to play the character of Veronica in ‘Cocktail’. He had told that people knew Deepika as a good girl. Imtiaz Ali has recently issued a clarification for Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone after the controversy over one of his statements.
Imtiaz apologized
Imtiaz wrote a post on his social media. Imtiaz re-shared that video on his Instagram story and said that his statement was given in a funny and light-hearted manner, whose intention was not to hurt Deepika at all. He wrote- My dear Deepika, you are my best friend. I feel that you will never misunderstand me for anything, because I know that you know me much better than anyone else. But I thought maybe you had some misunderstanding. I have no intention of hurting you at all. It is not possible in this birth.
What was the matter?
In a conversation with Network 18, Imtiaz had told why he felt that Deepika would be the best for the role of Veronica in Cocktail. In response to this question, the filmmaker had said that earlier he had asked Deepika to audition for the role of Meera. This character was later played by actress Diana Penty. Imtiaz said that he had seen Deepika in many parties and he saw her bold and free spirit style, after which he felt that his good girl image was Chhavi, who should be broken.
