
With the aim of further strengthening energy cooperation between India and Nepal, meetings of the Joint Working Group and Joint Steering Committee will be organized in Kathmandu this week. An official informed on Sunday that these meetings will be held on 14 and 15 July. Sandeep Kumar Dev, joint spokesperson of Nepal’s Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, said that in these secretary-level meetings, the Indian delegation will be led by India’s Energy Secretary Pankaj Aggarwal, while the Nepali delegation will be led by Sarita Dawadi, Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
He informed that the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal and his equivalent officers of the Ministry of Energy of India will participate in the meeting of the Joint Working Group. At the same time, secretaries of the respective departments of both the countries will participate in the meeting of the Joint Steering Committee.
In fact, an official said that India and Nepal are going to hold ‘Joint Working Group’ and ‘Joint Steering Committee’ meetings in Kathmandu this week on the issue of energy cooperation. These meetings will be held on 14 and 15 July. The meeting of the ‘Joint Working Group’ will be attended by Joint Secretaries of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal and their equivalent officers of the Indian Ministry of Energy, while the meeting of the ‘Joint Steering Committee’ will be attended by secretaries of the concerned departments of both the countries. The official said that various aspects of energy cooperation between Nepal and India will be discussed in these meetings.
Earlier in January, Foreign Minister S. During Jaishankar’s visit to Nepal, Nepal had signed a long-term agreement to export 10,000 MW of power to India and an MoU for cooperation in Renewable Energy, and jointly inaugurated three cross-border transmission lines.
