Millions of people use Gmail, but sometimes important emails go straight to the spam folder instead of the inbox. Due to this, emails containing job, banking, OTP or other important information may be missed. If you are also facing this problem then there is good news for you. To overcome this problem, Google has given some easy settings, with the help of which users can prevent important emails from going into spam. According to the company, this problem can be solved to a great extent by making just three changes.
Why do important emails go into spam?
According to Google’s official support guidance, sometimes Gmail mistakenly considers an email as spam. This happens if the sender is not in your contact list or you have previously marked the email as spam. In many cases, wrong filter settings also become the cause of this problem. The result is that job-related information, bank updates, business emails or other important messages end up in the spam folder even before they reach the inbox. Google says that users can control this problem by making some simple changes and can receive important mail safely in their inbox.
Update Spam folder and contacts settings
According to Google, first of all, users should go to the Spam folder and mark as “Not Spam” the email which they want to receive directly in the inbox in future. After doing this, the possibility of incoming emails from the same sender going into spam reduces significantly. Apart from this, it is also very important to save the email address of the sending person or company in Google Contacts. When an email address is in your contact list, Gmail considers it more trustworthy. This is why Google advises users to add important senders to their contacts.
Filter settings will end the problem forever
If emails from a particular person or organization are repeatedly going into spam, then Gmail’s filter feature can be very useful. According to Google, users can create a custom filter for the relevant email address by opening Gmail on the computer. By activating the “Never send it to spam” option in this filter, all future emails from that sender will be delivered directly to the inbox. Android and iPhone users can also take advantage of features like removing emails from spam and adding addresses to contacts, although the process of creating filters is currently only available on computers. This method is especially useful for people who regularly receive important emails.
