Sunny Deol And Akshaye Khanna Ikka 5 Weak Points: Sunny Deol and Akshay Khanna, these are two such names, seeing them together on screen is no less than a treat for any film lover. The new film ‘Ikka’ of these two acting powerhouses, who have been seen together in films like ‘Border’ and ‘Aap Ki Khatir’, has been released directly on Netflix. Ever since this thriller film was announced, there was a huge buzz among the fans that the two actors are going to create a blast on OTT. But after watching the film, the audience is more disappointed than entertained.
Sunny Deol’s famous angry young man swag and even Akshaye Khanna’s acting could not save this sinking boat. The film had the potential to become the biggest OTT blockbuster of the year, but there were some shortcomings which spoiled the entire game. If the makers had focused a little more on these 5 big fronts, the story of ‘Ikka’ would have been different today.
1. Weak and predictable story
The life of any suspense-thriller film is its story. But the weakest link of ‘Ikka’ proved to be its script. The story of the film seems so old and worn out that within the first half hour the audience can guess what is going to happen next. When there is no big twist or surprise left in a thriller film, the audience starts losing interest. If the makers had complicated the plot a little more and given a new-age touch, the story could have gained an edge.
2. Missing Sunny Deol’s ‘mass’ element
sunny deol His fans like him for his strong action and powerful dialogue delivery on screen. An attempt has been made to make his character quite serious in ‘Ikka’, which is a good thing, but his ‘larger than life’ style, which the fans were waiting for, was completely sidelined. He has very few such moments in the film, where he can steal the show in his special style. The graph of his character looks quite flat.
3. Lack of face-off between the two stars
When you have two amazing actors like Sunny Deol and Akshay Khanna, then the audience wants to see a fierce mental or physical fight between them. There were many such occasions in the film, where a tremendous ‘cat and mouse’ game could have been shown between the two, but the makers missed this golden opportunity. In the scenes between the two, the tension, dilemma and tension which is the USP of such films is not felt.
4. Slow pace and boring screenplay
The pace of a thriller film should be so fast that the viewer does not even get a chance to blink. But the screenplay of ‘Ikka’ is very dull. The story progresses very slowly in the first half and more time is taken to establish the characters. By the time the story tries to pick up pace in the second half, it is too late. The lack of crisp editing is clearly missed. Many scenes could have been easily trimmed.
5. Weak visuals and dull background score
Nowadays international level content is available on OTT. That’s why the audience likes to watch technically excellent cinema. The background music of ‘Ikka’ fails to create the thrill and fear in the scenes, which is necessary for a thriller. Along with this, the cinematography and visuals of the film are also quite cool. Despite being a big budget film, the feeling of grandness or dark thriller seems to be missing in it.
