Sunny Deol Akshaye Khanna Ikka: The pairing of Sunny Deol and Akshay Khanna is going to be seen once again in ‘Ikka’. Before this, both of them had last worked together in ‘Border’, which was released 29 years ago. Now after such a long time, the fans are very excited to see both the big stars. Since the announcement of the film, there is tremendous excitement among the audience about it. Now in a recent conversation, director Sidharth P. Malhotra has revealed that it was not easy to bring these two stars together and he considers it as ‘God’s plan’.
‘Ikka’ director Siddharth P. Malhotra told that when he started writing the story of the film, he had Sunny Deol and akshay khanna Was the name of. He believed that both the actors were perfectly fit for their respective characters. However, managing their dates and other things together was a big challenge.
“I have been telling people for 9 years”
Speaking to ANI, Sidharth P. Malhotra said about Ikka, “It was like a struggle for me. Whenever someone asked me if I had a script, I used to say, ‘Yes, I have ‘Ikka’. Read ‘Ikka’.” And after reading it he also liked it. The people at Netflix asked me if I had any project. I said I have an ‘ace’, listen to this… I said I have been hearing about this from many people for 9 years. Do you want to do it or not? They said yes, we want to do it.”
Akshay Khanna agreed within two days
The director told that he had narrated the script to Sunny Deol on the sets of ‘Bantwara’ only one and a half years ago and Deol immediately asked who would play the role of Shauryaman. Malhotra told, “I said, Sir, I want Akshay Khanna to do this role. He asked, will he do it? I said, I don’t know, maybe he will refuse, but let’s go and ask.” According to the director, Akshaye Khanna agreed within two days of hearing the story and the contract was signed the same week. Look tests started in October and shooting of the film took place in November-December.
Will Ikka be made a franchise director?
After the 1997 film ‘Border’ Sunny Deol and Akshay Khanna When Siddharth came together again, he called it a beautiful coincidence. He said, “It’s a coincidence that I brought them along. Even I didn’t know about it beforehand. It’s really God’s will.” Further, when the director was asked whether ‘Ikka’ could become a franchise, Malhotra said that there is definitely an intention to do so. Siddharth P. Malhotra says, “The effort is to become ‘Ace 2’, ‘Ace 3’, ‘Ace 4’ also, because ‘Ikka’ is the name of that lawyer… He is called ‘Ace’ in the legal world because he always plays ‘Ace of Spades’.” He told that even though no new story has been decided yet, the makers and Netflix are ready to take this franchise forward.

Made under the direction of Siddharth P, Malhotra Malhotra, apart from Sunny Deol and Akshay Khanna, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Shishir Sharma and Akanksha Ranjan are also in important roles in this film. Written by Althia Kaushal and Mayank Tiwari, ‘Ikka’ is produced by Siddharth P Malhotra and Sapna Malhotra under the banner of Alchemy Films. ‘Ikka’ will premiere on Netflix on July 10.
