US President Donald Trump has said that if the ongoing talks between America and Iran are successful and an agreement is reached, then he is ready to meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Trump said that such a meeting would be an honor for him. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, ‘I am not trying to meet him, but I would be honored if a meeting happens. If an agreement is reached then it is possible to meet them and I have no problem in it. However, Trump also said that he is not Khamenei’s favorite person.
Trump said that if the meeting takes place, he will treat Khamenei with full respect. He said that many people consider Mujtaba Khamenei as a professional leader and he also has a good reputation among some people. Trump jokingly said that some people speak bad about him, but many people also think good about him. He also said that many people say wrong things about him also.
Talked about Iran’s possession of uranium
This comment of Trump has come at a time when talks are going on between America and Iran regarding the nuclear program. This issue remains the most important in the relations between the two countries. During this, Trump also made a big claim about Iran’s enriched uranium reserves. He said that if America wants, it can control Iran’s uranium reserves right now. According to Trump, Iran will not be able to stop America from doing this.
However, he also said that there is no need to do so at present. Trump claimed that Iran’s enriched uranium has been kept in a place where it is under complete surveillance. He said that American agencies are constantly keeping an eye on him. Trump said that America’s cameras are installed there and we are monitoring that material.
Iran’s response to Trump’s statement
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi has rejected Trump’s statement in which Trump had said that he is ready to meet Mujtaba Khamenei. Araghchi said that such things should be considered keeping in mind the reality and current circumstances. He indicated that at present there is no real situation regarding such a meeting.
He said that due to security reasons, Iran’s security agencies have advised to limit the public presence of Mojtaba Khamenei. For this reason, he appears in less public programs than before. Araghchi said that the government and country’s officials are in constant contact with Mujtaba Khamenei.
