Liao Dan and his wife Du Jinling from Beijing worked in a factory. After losing their jobs, both of them became destitute. Meanwhile, in 2007, Du’s health deteriorated and it was discovered that he was suffering from a serious disease called ‘uremia’. The doctor said that if you want to stay alive, you will have to undergo dialysis three times a week.

Investigation revealed that Liao had made 49 fake receipts worth approximately 1.72 lakh yuan (ie approximately Rs 24.22 lakh).
