Haridwar Crime News: Two separate cases challenging the law and order have come to light in the religious city of Haridwar, where an angry mob took the law into their own hands and publicly thrashed the accused. The first case is of alleged molestation of a woman in Khadkhadi area, while the second case is of beating of a youth on suspicion of theft near Laltarau bridge. After the videos of both the incidents went viral on social media, the police has started investigation with promptness.
The first case is of Khadkhadi area. There was a huge uproar here late at night when some passengers from Haryana were accused of misbehaving with a woman. It is alleged that these youths who came from Haryana molested a local woman. Angered by this, the people present there caught two youths on the spot. Within no time a huge crowd gathered there and people started chasing the two youths on the road and started beating them.
In the video going viral on social media, it can be clearly seen that the crowd is getting angry and kicking and punching the youth. Some women present at the spot are also crying and shouting, accusing the youth of molestation. Some people even tried to intervene, but the angry crowd was not ready to agree. As soon as the information was received, the city police station reached the spot and handled the situation with great difficulty.
Taliban sentenced on suspicion of theft near Laltarou bridge
Another similar incident took place in the Ghat area near Laltarau bridge in Haridwar, where another violent face of the crowd was seen. Seeing a young man in a suspicious condition in the ghat area late at night, people suspected him of theft. The local people and the crowd present at the ghat caught the young man without informing the police and had a fierce fight with him. The video of this fight has also been captured in mobile cameras and has gone viral on the internet. In the video, some people are seen surrounding the young man and beating him. Police have also taken cognizance of this matter.
Such cases have come before also, police are scanning CCTV
In Haridwar, cases of breaking local decorum by hooligans and travelers coming from outside states have been reported earlier also. Police has already taken strict action in cases of drinking alcohol on the banks of Ganga and sometimes misbehaving with women.
On this latest double incident, city police station in-charge Kundan Singh Rana said – both the cases are being investigated seriously. The footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident spot is being scrutinized and statements of witnesses are being recorded. The police station in-charge has warned in clear words that no one is allowed to take the law into their own hands. On the basis of the viral video, the members of the mob that attacked are being identified and based on the evidence, strict legal action will be taken against them.
