How will the income, expenditure and donations of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust be revealed? Champat Rai refused to give information

June 25, 2026 by Uma Shankar

SIT has submitted the report of investigation into the alleged scam in the offerings of Ram temple located in Ayodhya. Meanwhile, Champat Rai, Secretary of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, citing investigation, has refused to give information related to the trust including its income, expenditure, donations and bank accounts.

Champat Rai has refused to give information at a time when the complaint given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajneesh Singh to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was sent to the Ayodhya district administration for necessary action.

What was written in the letter?

In a letter written to Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Vishu Raja on June 23, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Indrakant Dwivedi said that he had contacted Rai for the information sought in the complaint. According to the letter, Rai has told him that the investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the alleged offering theft case is still going on and the SIT is collecting all the necessary information.

Dwivedi said that Rai has said that in view of the ongoing investigation in the case, the desired information cannot be given. BJP leader Rajneesh Singh, in a complaint lodged with the PMO on June 12, had demanded that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust be directed to make public all its financial and property related details since the beginning of its formation. In this complaint sent by the PMO earlier this week, a demand was made to make many information public.

What’s in the SIT report?

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its preliminary report to Additional Chief Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad on Tuesday morning. According to sources, serious questions have been raised in the report not only on the arrangements of the trust but also on the role of bank officials, employees and policemen associated with the security system.

Sources claim that the SIT has found indications of suspicious role of some bank officers and employees during the investigation. The report also raised the possibility of collusion in some cases. The investigation team found that there was a lack of monitoring at many levels in the management and deposit process of donations, which was taken advantage of.

According to the report, some recruitments done on the basis of the recommendations of the Trust have also been included among the major shortcomings. The SIT believes that the system was weakened due to lack of adequate investigation and monitoring of personnel appointed on sensitive responsibilities.
