Dr. Sajeela Maini (Senior Consultant, Psychiatrist, Sir Gangaram Hospital) She says that the easiest and best way to quit cigarettes is to quit in one go and it is called the Cold Turkey Method. The person adopting this method has to decide the quit date.

If we try to reduce smoking from 10 to 9 or 9 to 8, then this is not a successful method. Experts say that even if you are drinking 10 then reduce it to 0 and if you are drinking 20 then also reduce it to 0.

72 hours is the real problem

There are two physical withdrawals of quitting cigarettes and they bother for 72 hours. Experts said that symptoms like cravings, irritability, difficulty in focusing, insomnia, increased appetite and headache are seen. According to him, other problems caused by not smoking cigarettes affect only for 3 days. If such people manage their cigarette craving for 72 hours, then on the fourth day this craving reduces to 80 percent i.e. it becomes very severe.
