His blood sugar suddenly reached 550 mg/dL. His family had no time to think. Daughter-in-law Paramjit says- We were just running and praying.
When Bhoor Kaur was brought to Kashmiri Heart Care Center in Sunam, her condition was very critical. Clinical Cardiologist and Managing Director Dr. Anshuman Ful says- Bhoor Kaur was brought to the hospital in a very critical condition with diabetic ketoacidosis, severe infection and acute respiratory failure. His oxygen levels were continuously falling, his heart condition was unstable and his body had gone into dangerous metabolic imbalance.

No financial hesitation. No waiting. Immediate treatment only. In serious cases, this speed sometimes becomes the difference between life and death.
Battle for life inside ICU
Dr. Full said, in the initial hours our entire focus was only on saving his life. We had to treat difficulty in breathing, infection and metabolic imbalance simultaneously. The family was sitting silently waiting outside the ICU. Prayers, hope and faith were his only support.
Then slowly life started coming back. Initial signs of improvement were visible on the third day. His oxygen level started improving. Signs of infection started reducing. The body started responding to the treatment. And then the biggest relief came – Bhoor Kaur regained consciousness. That was really the first moment of relief, Dr. Full said. We knew that she was returning from the jaws of death. The patient who had reached the brink of death was slowly returning to life.

Now slowly recovering, Bhoor Kaur speaks in a low voice, still struggling with the fatigue of that experience, but deeply grateful from within. He said, I don’t remember everything, but I know that my condition was very serious. I am grateful to the doctors and the government. I am alive today because of the health card. The words were simple, but their meaning was very deep.
