Now DK Shivakumar will take oath as Chief Minister of Karnataka on June 3. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge informed about the number of ministers in the new cabinet. Kharge said that the number of ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers (DCMs) in the Karnataka cabinet has not been decided yet. He told that Shivakumar has been elected the leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Karnataka. While talking to the media at Kalaburagi Airport, Kharge said that we will have to see, no proposal has come yet.
Kharge said that when the proposal comes, we will decide how many ministers and deputy chief ministers to appoint. We will get more information after June 3. The Congress chief said that at present there is no proposal to include ministers in the new cabinet. He said that new ministers will be included in the cabinet in the second stage. This may take 15 days or a month.
‘No proposal yet in the name of ministers’
Kharge said that no proposal has come yet for the number of ministers to be 8 or 10. Once we get it, we will proceed with the first stage process accordingly. Kharge’s statement came a day after DK Shivakumar submitted a letter to Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot. In this he informed the Governor about his unanimous election as CLP leader. This incident happened after former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigned on May 28.
The Governor immediately dissolved the previous Council of Ministers, but asked Siddaramaiah to continue his work till the swearing-in of the new government. Shivakumar said that the party is committed to serve the people of Karnataka with full dedication, honesty and purpose. Known as the party’s ‘troubleshooter’, Shivakumar has earned a reputation for his grassroots work, crisis management and his close association with the Congress central leadership. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 3 at 4:05 pm at Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru. It is expected that the new government will work on inclusive development and strengthening the party organization before the upcoming assembly elections.
What did Kharge say on KPCC president?
On KPCC President, Kharge said that obviously, when he (DK Shivakumar) leaves the post, someone will have to take over the charge of KPCC President. We are looking for the right person, who has both the qualifications and the ability to work with a team. There are only 24 months left for the elections, so we need someone who can focus on building the party for the future.
